HOW AM I DOING
Before long, in your new post, you will begin to ask yourself how you are doing. Is this working for you? Is it what you expected? You will begin to moderate your expectations in relation to your personal experience on the ground. And so you should. Your contract is likely to be a finite one and you will need to get the best out of it while contributing equally to your environment. You may find you are giving more than you expected; giving differently than you expected; or that you feel differently around your posting than you expected. Maybe a colleague is challenging you in ways you find difficult to manage; maybe your boss is delegating too much; or maybe the money is not covering all you hoped for in this short contract time frame. Maybe your family is unhappy, unfulfilled, or downright miserable. So many maybes yet expats are adept at skirting the issues, putting the discomfort down to not having adjusted yet. How long should you wait to review your situation? And what signs should you be looking out for anyway? Where to begin!
Begin with your WORLD.
